Who are you?
I was a prosecuting attorney in a small county in Southern Illinois (the S is capitalized on purpose.) I later became a corporate attorney…because it paid better.
What kind of cases did you prosecute?
Traffic and juvenile cases. The juvenile cases included sex abuse and neglect as well as criminal cases.
I never knew what each day would bring.
Why did you write a book?
There was a good story to tell.
What’s your writing process?
My creative writing is more effective in the morning, so I try to write then. Editing is generally more effective in the afternoon and evening.
Who’s your favorite author?
First, I’m impressed with anyone who can finish a book.
As to mystery writers, Nick Pizzolatto is great. Dick Francis and Agatha Christie are incredible.
For literature, you can’t go wrong with Ernest Hemingway and W. Somerset Maugham. Everyone should read The Razor’s Edge.
